Hello and welcome to my website. I am Dr. Leedy Hoque, an expert in Autism, living and working in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

I studied medicine, have a PhD in Physiology from the UK and am the mother of a daughter, Shaoli, and a son, Aadil. Since the diagnosis of autism in Aadil in 1994, I have been focused, both as a professional and a mother on the science, recent developments and research in the field of Autism in order to develop the most effective practices of care for autistic children that expertise can offer.

In 2000 when I returned to Bangladesh, I found little awareness about autism among the layperson and even among the professionals. Since my return I have shared my knowledge and experience through writing, through local TV and radio media and through setting up my advisory service to engage individual families in the understanding of and care for their autistic children. Today there is a growing awareness about autism throughout the country. I am currently a member of the government task force on developing awareness on autism and was actively involved in developing a manual for field workers for detecting at-risk-children. With the prestigious institute for music, ‘Chhayanaut’, I  run and coordinate ‘“Shurer Jadu” & “Ronger Jadu”, music and art classes for autistic children.
