For the second year running, on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day on the 2nd of April 2015, Dr. Leedy Hoque has created a public information installation at her residence in Dhanmondi, Dhaka and has provided key information bilingually. A blue light theme decorates the building and echoes the global autism awareness campaign called ‘Light It Up Blue’ by Autism Speaks. An LED display declares ‘World Autism Awareness Day’ in English and Bangla. The informational poster ‘How can we help the autistic child ?’ which Dr. Hoque wrote for this year’s celebration, is posted in both Bangla and English.
The display generated a lot of interest from people of various walks in life. For example a teacher from a local school was enthusiastic to send his students on attachments to autistic schools in order to learn more about autism and to help autistic children.
