Akib

Autistic children are said to have limited imagination  leading  to  difficulty in pretend play. Akib, whose communication is steadily  improving   has shifted from a special school to a mainstream school. During one session he became very excited seeing  a  swimming  ring. He immediately said he wanted to go swimming. He then got engaged in a wonderful imaginary play where he jumped off   the trampoline into the “big river” which I made out of two large sponge mattresses.

Most autistic children love rough and tumble play which encourages interaction and provides the vestibular stimulation they crave. Here we are using a therapy ball and sponge mattress for bouncing, rolling, jumping and having a great time with the child.
